Artness V3 Retractable Harness Line
Variants
- Default Title$85
Overview
The A3D Sport Artness V3 Retractable Harness Line is a wing foil harness line that mounts along the central strut of a wing, automatically retracting when unhooked to eliminate slack line during riding. Designed, manufactured, and assembled in southern France by A3D Sport, the Artness V3 is the third generation of the brand's retractable harness line concept. The housing and mechanical components are 100% FDM 3D-printed in PETG plastic, while the line itself is 5 mm Dyneema — an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber. Attachment to the wing handle uses two 30 mm Velcro straps rated to 150 kg of tensile resistance per full wrap. A3D Sport states the Artness fits all wing handle types, including soft handles, rigid handles, and wishbone or boom setups.

Who It's For
The Artness V3 suits wing foilers at any skill level who want a cleaner cockpit setup and the ability to switch between hooked-in and unhooked riding without a loose line catching on gear or dragging in the water. Riders who alternate between cruising runs — where a harness line takes load off the arms — and freestyle or wave maneuvers — where a dangling line is a nuisance — benefit most from the retractable mechanism.
The adjustable length range of 56 cm to 88 cm accommodates different rider builds and stance preferences. Shorter settings suit upwind or dynamic riding where a close connection to the wing is useful, while longer settings offer more range of motion when bearing off downwind or riding in gusty conditions. Because length adjustments on the V3 are made on the beach rather than on the water, it is best suited for sessions where conditions are relatively consistent or where the rider has a preferred fixed length.
In the Lineup
Within A3D Sport's own catalog, the Artness V3 sits as the brand's core retractable harness line. Above it is the Artness PRO 2, which adds the ability to adjust line length while hooked in and sailing — a meaningful upgrade for riders who need to adapt mid-session to shifting wind or changing points of sail. The PRO 2 carries a higher price point to match that added functionality. The V3's rear mounting piece is more compact than the PRO version, which can improve comfort and reduce bulk on the handle.
Retractable harness lines are still a relatively niche category in wing foiling accessories. Most riders currently use fixed-length Dyneema loops or adjustable non-retractable lines. The Artness V3 occupies a distinct position as one of the few dedicated retractable options on the market, giving it appeal for riders specifically looking to eliminate slack line without switching to a full boom setup.
