Overview

The AFS Silk Stabilizers are full-carbon rear wings from AFS, a French foil manufacturer known for its surf-oriented hydrofoil designs. Available in two distinct sub-lines — the standard Silk (132, 142, 152) and the higher-aspect Silk HA (HA38, HA40, HA43) — these stabilizers were developed alongside the Silk front wing series to form a cohesive foil package tuned primarily for wave riding and freeride foiling. Both lines mount to any AFS fuselage using two M6 Torx bolts in a bottom-mount configuration and ship with screws and a protective cover.

The standard Silk stabilizers feature a compact outline with pronounced dihedral, designed to facilitate smooth rail-to-rail transitions during carving turns. Small tubercles on the leading edge — matching the design language of the Silk front wings — contribute to controlled behavior through turbulent and white-water conditions. The Silk HA variants take a different approach: their elongated spans and substantially higher aspect ratios prioritize glide and pumping efficiency at low to medium speeds, making them well suited for downwind runs and extended glide between swells.

The standard Silk stabilizers suit intermediate to advanced riders focused on wave foiling and surf-style carving. Their compact spans and steep dihedral favor tight, responsive turns over raw glide, so they pair naturally with the Silk 650, 850, and 1050 front wings in shore-break and open-ocean wave conditions. AFS pairs the 132 with the Silk 650, the 142 with the Silk 850, and the 152 with the Silk 1050.

The Silk HA line targets riders who want more pump-and-glide capability without giving up the Silk platform's maneuverability. The high aspect ratios — nearly double those of the standard Silk tails — make the HA variants a strong choice for downwind foiling, light-wind sessions, and extended open-ocean glides. They also pair with the broader AFS front-wing range, including Enduro models, giving riders a versatile tail option across disciplines.
