AK Plasma 1000 Foil
Variants
- Default Title$699
Overview
The AK Plasma 1000 Foil is a complete hydrofoil package from AK Durable Supply Co., the foil and accessories division of the Airush brand. Part of the original Plasma Hydrofoil Series (V1), the Plasma 1000 sits at the performance end of a three-wing lineup that also includes the 1300 and 1600 cm² front wings. Developed alongside pro athlete Zane Schweitzer, the Plasma line targets riders looking for a mid-to-high aspect platform built around glide efficiency, pump performance, and higher top-end speed. The complete package ships ready to ride with a front wing, stabilizer, fuselage, mast, base plate, hardware, and protective wing sleeves.
AK positions the Plasma series on a fully modular platform, meaning wings, fuselages, masts, and base plates can be swapped across different disciplines — kite foiling, wing foiling, prone surf foiling, and downwind. The 1000 cm² front wing is the smallest in the original Plasma family, trading low-end lift for tighter turning radius and a higher speed ceiling.

Who It's For
The Plasma 1000 is aimed at intermediate to advanced foilers who have moved past the early learning phase and want more speed and maneuverability from their setup. Its smaller wing area produces less lift at low speeds compared to the 1300 or 1600, which means a faster stall speed — riders need solid water starts and adequate wind or wave energy to stay on foil. In return, the 1000 rewards committed riders with quicker directional changes and a higher cruise speed, making it well suited for wing foiling in moderate-to-strong wind, powered kite foiling, and prone surfing on steeper or faster wave faces.
The 61 cm Stealth fuselage pairs naturally with the smaller wing. Its shorter length reduces the pumping cadence needed to maintain flight and improves pivot-style turns. Riders who prioritize agility and top-end performance over easy low-speed recovery will find this combination effective across multiple foiling disciplines.
In the Lineup
Within AK's original Plasma series, the 1000 is the high-performance option, sitting below the 1300 (the all-round choice) and the 1600 (the light-wind and early-lift wing). AK has since released a V2 and V3 Plasma generation with a revised size range — 700, 880, 1100, 1350, 1600, and 2050 cm² — featuring an updated Carbon Fusion monoblock construction and TaperLock connection system. The V1 Plasma 1000 shares the same modular mounting standard, so riders already in the AK ecosystem can mix components across generations.
For buyers cross-shopping, the Plasma 1000 competes broadly with other mid-to-high aspect carbon front wings in the 900–1100 cm² range from brands like Armstrong and Axis. Its inclusion of an aluminum mast rather than carbon keeps the complete-package price lower, which may appeal to riders entering the high-aspect category without committing to a full carbon setup.
