Overview

The Appletree Appleslice V3 Wing Foilboard is the third generation of Appletree's dedicated wing foil platform, built by the Dutch manufacturer known for its carbon composite construction. Available in seven sizes from 40 L to 100 L, the V3 takes a longer-and-narrower approach compared to its V2 predecessor, drawing design cues from Appletree's Skipper downwind boards. The result is a board shaped around efficient water release, early lift-off, and versatility across a wide range of wind and water conditions.

Appletree builds the Appleslice V3 with full carbon fiber layup over their proprietary 50K closed-cell foam core, a material rated to withstand 50,000 kg/m² of compression while staying light. The foil mounting area is reinforced with ultra-high-density PET honeycomb sandwiched between inner and outer carbon layers, and the board uses FUTURES oneshot foil boxes positioned slightly forward with extended tracks for flexible fore-aft foil placement.

Who It's For

Appletree positions the Appleslice V3 as a board that spans skill levels from progressing intermediates up through advanced riders. The larger sizes (80–100 L) provide enough volume for riders still building water-start consistency and early foiling skills, while the smaller sinker sizes (40–60 L) target experienced foilers who prioritize low swing weight and responsive rail-to-rail transitions. The displacement hull at the nose helps sinker-volume boards resurface quickly, making the smaller sizes more practical than raw litre counts might suggest.

The V3 is tuned for a broad wind window. Its lengthened outline and optimized rocker improve light-wind performance relative to the V2, letting riders get on foil earlier with less aggressive pumping. At the same time, the narrower tail and sharper, pulled-in rails give the board enough bite to handle powered conditions and ocean swell. Riders looking for a single wing foil board to cover flat-water cruising, light-wind freeride sessions, and moderate wave riding will find the Appleslice V3 well-suited to that role.

In the Lineup

Within Appletree's foilboard range, the Appleslice V3 sits as the brand's primary wing-specific platform. It replaced the Appleslice V2, which used a wider, shorter outline at comparable volumes — the V2's 83 L size, for example, was four inches shorter and an inch wider than the V3's 80 L. Appletree also produces the Skipper for prone and downwind foiling, a board that influenced the V3's lengthened shape and bottom contours but serves a different discipline.

In the broader wing foilboard market, the Appleslice V3 competes in the premium full-carbon segment alongside boards like the Armstrong FG Wing SUP and the Unifoil Hyper2. Its pricing — ranging from roughly $1,599 for the 40 L to $1,999 for the 100 L — reflects the hand-built carbon construction and proprietary core material. Riders cross-shopping at this price point are typically choosing between these purpose-built carbon platforms and more affordable glass or hybrid-construction alternatives from larger-volume brands.
