Overview
The Appletree Jazz 62.5L is a freestyle-oriented wing foil board from the Netherlands-based brand Appletree Surfboards. Sitting in the middle of the five-size Jazz range, the 4'8" x 24" format pairs a compact outline with enough volume to remain versatile beyond pure trick riding. Appletree designed the Jazz around low swing weight and quick rotation, using a forward-biased volume distribution and a recessed front-foot standing area to keep the rider's stance at an optimal angle relative to the foil. The board features a longer flat planing section on the bottom around the foil connection point, rounded nose rails that transition to a harder edge toward the tail, and an abrupt tail release edge intended to help the board skip cleanly across the surface after landings.
Appletree produces the Jazz in a full carbon fiber construction using vacuum-infused epoxy over the brand's proprietary 50K closed-cell foam core, rated at 50,000 kg per square meter of compression resistance. The foil attachment uses CNC-cut Futures track boxes set in a carbon-reinforced PET honeycomb block. A 3mm EVA traction pad covers the full deck, and foot strap inserts come standard. An EPS/Epoxy construction variant has also been offered at a lower price point.

Who It's For
The Jazz targets intermediate to advanced wing foilers focused on freestyle progression — from first jumps through aerial rotations. At 62.5 liters, this size functions as a sinker for riders around 80–90 kg, but Appletree's forward volume bias makes water starts straightforward even with smaller high-aspect foils. The board comes up under the rider quickly and provides a stable platform to get foiling before a trick run.
Riders primarily interested in flat-water freestyle and light-wind jumping will get the most from this shape. The compact dimensions and low windage also make it capable in bump and swell conditions, where the short outline tracks well through chop. Riders who split time between wave riding and freeride cruising may find Appletree's Appleslice line a better all-around match, but for dedicated trick practice the Jazz's wider planing surface and landing forgiveness are purpose-built advantages.
In the Lineup
Within Appletree's wing foil range, the Jazz sits alongside the Appleslice as the brand's two core board families. The Appleslice is narrower and longer at equivalent volumes — a 60-liter Appleslice measures 4'9" x 23" versus the Jazz's 4'8" x 24" — and is oriented toward freeride, wave riding, and racing. Appletree's own guidance suggests riders typically size up roughly 8–10 liters when moving from a Jazz to an Appleslice for comparable planing efficiency. The Jazz range spans from the 42.5-liter pro-level sinker up to a 90-liter option accessible to heavier or less experienced riders.
As a used board at this price point, the Jazz 62.5L offers access to Appletree's premium carbon construction at a significant discount from the new retail price. Comparable freestyle-focused wing boards in the 60–65 liter range include options from F-One, Fanatic, and KT Surfing, though Appletree's full-carbon build and compression-resistant foam core distinguish it on durability and stiffness.
