Overview

The Appletree Jazz 75L Wingboard is a freestyle-oriented wing foil board from Dutch shaper Appletree Surfboards. Sitting at the second-largest size in the five-board Jazz lineup, the 75L offers a compact 4'9" platform built around Appletree's carbon fiber construction and closed-cell foam core. The Jazz was designed from the ground up for trick-focused wing foiling, with a shape that prioritizes low swing weight and quick rotational control while still providing enough volume and glide for comfortable water starts and light-wind sessions.

The board uses a recessed deck design that positions the rider's stance at the correct angle relative to the foil without sacrificing nose volume or rocker. Rails transition from soft and rounded at the nose to a progressively harder edge toward the tail, finishing with an abrupt tail edge intended to aid release during jumps and landings.

Who It's For

The Jazz 75L suits intermediate to advanced wing foilers who want a dedicated freestyle platform with enough float to be practical in moderate-to-light wind. At 75 liters, it provides adequate volume for riders in the 75–85 kg range to water-start without struggle, while still behaving as a sinker-style board that stays out of the way once on foil. The forward-biased volume distribution helps with early planing and water starts even on smaller foils.

Riders progressing from their first jumps into rotational tricks like 360s will benefit from the compact outline and low swing weight. The flat section around the foil connection area extends glide efficiency, making the board more forgiving in underpowered conditions than its freestyle focus might suggest. For heavier riders or those prioritizing maximum light-wind range, Appletree offers the 90L version at 4'10".

In the Lineup

The Jazz is Appletree's freestyle-specific entry in their wing foil range, sitting alongside the Skipper Wing, which takes a more freeride-oriented approach. Where the Skipper favors comfort and cruising versatility, the Jazz trades some of that user-friendliness for trick performance — shorter outlines, quicker rotation, and a tail shape tuned for pop and release.

Within the Jazz line itself, the 75L is the go-to size for average-weight riders who want freestyle capability without going full sinker. The 62.5L (4'8") below it drops volume significantly for lighter or more advanced riders comfortable with less float, while the 90L above adds stability for heavier pilots or lighter wind days. Compared to other premium carbon freestyle wingboards — such as the F-One Rocket Air or Fanatic Sky Style — the Jazz competes at the high end of construction quality, using full carbon layup with no fiberglass substitution and Appletree's proprietary foam core rated at 50,000 kg per square meter of compression resistance.
