Overview
The Armstrong A+ System Carving Freeride V2 Front Wing is the second generation of Armstrong's entry-level and freeride-focused hydrofoil wing, built around the brand's modular A+ System platform. Armstrong designed the CF V2 line as an accessible, low-aspect foil intended for easy flying across multiple disciplines — wing foiling, prone surf foiling, kite foiling, wake foiling, and downwind. The V2 update introduced a thinner wing profile and flatter span compared to the original CF series, which translates to a higher usable speed range, improved glide, and more precision through carved turns while retaining the forgiving low-speed characteristics the line is known for.
The CF V2 is offered in four sizes — CF950, CF1200, CF1600, and CF2050 — covering a wide spread of rider weights and ability levels. All wings use all-carbon construction and connect to Armstrong's A+ fuselage system, which features a titanium core and barrel-nut hardware for corrosion resistance and tool-free disassembly.

Who It's For
The CF V2 range spans from beginner to solid intermediate, with the larger sizes (CF1600, CF2050) oriented toward newer foilers or heavier riders who benefit from more lift at lower speeds, and the smaller sizes (CF950, CF1200) suited to lighter riders or more experienced foilers who want a nimble carving wing. The CF2050 is positioned as the starting point for first-time wing foilers — its large surface area and low stall speed make initial water starts and sustained flight more achievable. The CF1600 fills a similar role with a slightly smaller footprint for riders who are lighter or progressing quickly.
At the other end, the CF950 and CF1200 reward riders who already have consistent time on foil. The CF950 in particular delivers quick rail-to-rail response and a compact turning radius suited to wave riding and kite foiling in powered conditions. The CF1200 balances low-end lift with enough maneuverability for light-wind wing foiling sessions and confident gybes. Across the range, the low aspect ratios (4.8–5.0) prioritize stability and predictable pitch behavior over raw efficiency, making these wings forgiving when riders are still developing board control.
In the Lineup
Within Armstrong's front wing catalog, the Carving Freeride V2 sits as the most beginner-friendly line. Riders looking to step up in performance typically move to the HS (High Speed) series, which evolved directly from the CF platform but offers higher aspect ratios and a broader speed range for progressive carving and wave riding. Beyond that, Armstrong's MA (Mid Aspect) series targets experienced foilers seeking maximum glide and efficiency across disciplines.
The CF V2 replaced the original CF series with refinements to the foil profile rather than a ground-up redesign. Comparable entry-level front wings from other brands include the Axis BSC range and the F-One Seven Seas, both of which target a similar freeride-progression niche with low-to-mid aspect planforms. The CF V2's four-size spread and modular A+ compatibility give it flexibility for riders who plan to swap wings as they progress rather than replacing their entire foil setup.
