Overview

The Armstrong Wing FG Board is a dedicated wing foil board from New Zealand-based brand Armstrong Foils, built around their Forward Geometry (FG) concept first introduced in 2021. The FG design positions the foil tracks further forward toward the center of the board, which reduces swing weight during turns and increases overall responsiveness. Available across ten sizes — from a compact 34-liter, 4'2" model up to a 135-liter, 6'2" platform — the Wing FG Board covers a wide spectrum of rider weights and ability levels within a single board line.

This generation refines Armstrong's earlier wing board shape with a narrower overall outline, a swept wedge nose with added thickness for improved flotation, and full-length chines running rail to rail. The result is a board that planes earlier and releases from the water surface more cleanly than its predecessor, while maintaining a stable, centered feel on the water.

Who It's For

The Wing FG Board is designed to support riders across a broad progression arc, from those learning to get up on foil through to experienced competitors. Larger sizes like the 105L, 120L, and 135L offer generous flotation and a wider, flatter standing area that helps intermediate riders find stability during water starts and early flight. The recessed deck shape places volume around the standing zone, giving a secure platform underfoot while keeping the center of gravity low.

At the smaller end of the range, the 34L through 58L sizes cater to lighter or more advanced riders who prioritize agility in turns and reduced drag at speed. The narrower outline on these compact boards allows quicker edge-to-edge transitions once on foil. The extended FG foil box provides a wide adjustment range, so riders can tune mast position as they progress or switch between different foil setups.

In the Lineup

Within Armstrong's board range, the Wing FG sits as the primary wing-dedicated foilboard — a versatile all-rounder rather than a discipline-specific shape. Armstrong also offers a Midlength Wing Board for riders who want more glide and paddle-in capability, and a dedicated Surf Board for prone foil surfing. The Wing FG Board occupies the middle ground: compact enough for high-performance winging, yet offered in large enough volumes to serve as a first foil board for heavier riders.

For buyers cross-shopping, the Wing FG competes with boards like the F-One Rocket Air and Fanatic Sky Wing in the mid-to-premium price tier. Its distinguishing factor is the forward-mounted foil track system, which Armstrong claims works with any brand of foil — a notable consideration for riders building a mixed-brand quiver. Pricing across the ten-size range runs from roughly $1,600 to $2,200, scaling with board volume and material.
