Overview

The Armstrong XPS MKII Dyna-Link Boom is a carbon fiber boom accessory designed for the Armstrong A-Wing XPS Mk II and X-Wing Performance wing foil wings. Part of Armstrong's modular Dyna-Link handle system, this boom offers riders an alternative to the standard carbon handles that come with the wing. The Dyna-Link system uses Dyneema anchor loops sewn into the wing's strut, allowing the boom to hook in without any hardware. Once the strut is inflated to pressure, the boom locks solidly into place. Riders attach or remove the boom while the strut is deflated, then inflate to secure it.

The boom itself features a circular-profile carbon core built with the same layup technology Armstrong uses in its carbon hydrofoils. Over the carbon core sits a textured EVA foam grip layer intended to balance direct feedback with comfort over long sessions. Three sizes are available — Small, Medium, and Large — scaled to match specific wing sizes across the XPS Mk II and X-Wing Performance lineups. Note that this boom is not compatible with the previous-generation XPS wings.

Who It's For

This boom suits wing foilers who prefer a continuous grip surface over separate handles. Riders coming from windsurfing backgrounds or those who like to shift hand positions frequently during maneuvers tend to favor a boom setup. Because Armstrong sells the XPS Mk II with carbon handles included by default, the Dyna-Link Boom is an upgrade path for riders who have already tried handles and want more grip versatility.

The boom works across all skill levels that the XPS Mk II targets, from progressing intermediates to advanced riders. Light-wind sessions and longer downwinders particularly benefit from a boom, since riders can relax their grip and reposition hands without releasing the wing. The three size options ensure the boom scales properly whether you're flying a compact 2 m wave wing or a large 8 m light-wind size.

In the Lineup

Within the Armstrong accessory range, the Dyna-Link Boom sits alongside the standard Carbon Handles that ship with the XPS Mk II wing. Armstrong positions the boom as an optional upgrade rather than a replacement — riders can swap freely between handles and boom thanks to the shared Dyna-Link anchor system. The brand also offers Hybrid Carbon Handles as a third option in the same system.

Compared to aftermarket boom solutions from other brands, the Dyna-Link Boom is notable for its tool-free, hardware-free attachment method. Most competing wings that offer boom options use bolt-on or sleeve-style mounting. The Dyna-Link approach trades universal compatibility for a tighter, rattle-free connection specific to Armstrong's anchor placement. For riders invested in the Armstrong wing ecosystem, this boom keeps the setup modular without adding weight or complexity.
