Overview
The Axis Pump Rear Wing is a high-aspect carbon stabilizer built specifically for pump foiling and related low-drag disciplines. Produced by New Zealand-based Axis Foils, this tail wing uses a 460 mm wingspan with a thin 60 mm chord and fully carbon construction — no foam core — resulting in a flat, fast foil section optimized for glide. The original 460 earned a strong following among dock-start and pump-foil riders, and the updated V2 revision refines the design by adding subtle turned-down wingtips inspired by the brand's Progressive rear wing line. That tip geometry is intended to improve carving response and directional stability while preserving the low-drag pump efficiency of the original.

Who It's For
This rear wing targets intermediate-to-advanced foilers focused on pump foiling, dock starts, flat-water glides, and downwind runs. The high aspect ratio and minimal chord keep drag low, which rewards riders who already have a confident pump stroke and clean technique. It is not a forgiving stabilizer for early-stage learners — riders still developing basic foil control will generally benefit from a wider-chord, lower-aspect rear wing that offers more pitch stability.
Axis positions the 460 Pump as the tail wing of choice for pairing with their larger PNG and BSC front wings, particularly the PNG 1150 and PNG 1310. That combination has become a widely adopted setup in the dock-start and distance-pump community. Beyond pure pump foiling, the wing also suits light-wind winging and wake foiling sessions where a rider wants maximum glide per pump and minimal rear-wing drag at speed.
In the Lineup
Within the Axis rear wing catalog, the 460 Pump sits in its own dedicated category, separate from the Progressive, Speed, and Freeride stabilizer lines. It is currently the only model in the Pump rear wing collection, serving as a specialist tool rather than part of a graduated size range. Riders looking for similar span but more grip through turns may prefer the Progressive 450 or 475, which blend a thinner speed-oriented foil section with more carve-friendly geometry.
The V2 revision is the current-production model, replacing the original 460/60. Some retailers still list the original version, though stock is largely depleted. Comparable pump-oriented stabilizers from other brands include tail wings in the 440–480 mm span range from manufacturers like Armstrong and Uni Foil, though direct cross-brand compatibility does not apply — the Axis Pump Rear Wing uses the Axis-specific fuselage mounting interface.
