Overview
The 2021 Cabrinha Macro Foilboard is a compact, wing-foiling-specific board from Cabrinha's first generation of dedicated wing foil shapes. Designed by Pete Cabrinha, the Macro pairs a short, wide platform with carefully distributed volume to create a board that gets on foil quickly from either a standing or kneeling start. The hull features a double concave section at the nose that transitions to a flat bottom, while the tail incorporates a kick shape intended to aid pumping both on and off the water. A concave deck cradles the rider's feet for strapless riding, though insert patterns for two- or three-strap configurations are built in.
Construction uses an EPS foam core wrapped in a composite sandwich layup. The deck is reinforced with carbon Innegra and full PVC reinforcement, balancing stiffness underfoot with impact resistance. Each board ships with M8 T-nuts installed and a full deck pad; foot straps are sold separately. A standard 9 cm adjustable foil mount accommodates most track-mount hydrofoils.

Who It's For
The Macro targets intermediate to progressing wing foilers who want a purpose-built board rather than a crossover shape. Its wide outline and optimized volume distribution give newer foilers the stability needed during water starts, while the compact length keeps the board responsive once airborne. Riders in the 130–180 lb range will find the 58 L model suits lighter-wind sessions where quick takeoff matters, while the 98 L version gives heavier riders or true beginners additional float for easier uphauling and launching.
Because the Macro is shaped exclusively for foiling — not for SUP paddling or prone surfing — it rewards riders who are past the very first learning stages and ready to commit to foil-only sessions. The concave deck and kick tail support strapless riding and dock-start pumping, making it a practical choice for flat-water and light-chop conditions.
In the Lineup
Within Cabrinha's 2021 foilboard range, the Macro sat alongside the X:Fly, a longer multi-use board that doubled as a SUP and wing platform, and the Autopilot, which covered a broader range of foil disciplines including kite foiling. The Macro was the most wing-foiling-focused shape in the lineup, trading versatility for quicker takeoffs and tighter maneuverability once on foil.
As a 2021 model now available at clearance pricing, the Macro competes on value against newer entry-level wing boards from brands like Slingshot and Fanatic. Riders looking for a dedicated wing foil shape at a lower price point may find it a practical entry into Cabrinha's foil ecosystem, especially when paired with a current-generation Cabrinha foil and wing.
