Overview

The 2025 Cabrinha Mantis Wing is the fifth generation of Cabrinha's flagship all-around wing, built for freeride, wave riding, and big air sessions. This iteration refines the outline with a forward-shifted draft position that redistributes load more evenly between the rider's front and rear hands. The canopy uses Teijin D2 Ripstop fabric paired with carbon composite battens and a convex strut profile, creating a frame that resists deformation under load while keeping overall weight manageable. Nine sizes span from 2.0 m to 6.0 m, covering a broad wind spectrum.

Cabrinha positions the Mantis as the versatile do-everything wing in its lineup — distinct from their dedicated freestyle or pure-surf models. The V5 generation brings a graduated trailing-edge panel layout and size-progressive wingtip twist, both aimed at smoothing power delivery across the size range.

Who It's For

The Mantis targets intermediate to advanced wing foilers who want a single wing that performs across disciplines rather than specializing in one. Its forward draft and low-dihedral shape generate accessible power at the low end of its wind window while remaining composed when overpowered, making it practical for riders who don't want to swap wings as conditions shift. The design favors those who split sessions between freeride cruising, downwind runs, and wave faces.

Beginners stepping up from their first season may find the smaller sizes (2.0–3.0 m) useful as high-wind options, but the Mantis is primarily tuned for riders who already have board starts and transitions dialed. Its balanced feel rewards a rider who actively works the wing through turns rather than simply sheeting in and holding on.

In the Lineup

Within Cabrinha's 2025 wing range, the Mantis sits as the all-around option between the more freestyle-oriented Crosswing and surf-focused models. It replaced the Mantis V4 from 2024, carrying forward the same broad-use philosophy but adding the relocated draft and upgraded canopy fabric. For riders comparing across brands, the Mantis competes directly with wings like the Duotone Slick and the F-ONE Strike — each occupying a similar all-around freeride niche with moderate aspect ratios and versatile handling traits.

The nine-size spread is notably wide; the 2.0 m caters to strong-wind or lighter riders, while the 6.0 m extends usability into marginal conditions without requiring a dedicated light-wind design.
