Overview
The Code R Series Complete Foil is a full hydrofoil package from Australian brand Code Foils, bundling an R Series high modulus front wing, mast, fuselage, and R Series stabilizer into a single configurable setup. Code Foils — designed and tested by Marcus Tardrew, Ben Tardrew, Daniel Juengling, and world champion James Casey — built the R Series around high aspect ratio efficiency for downwind and distance-oriented foiling disciplines. The complete package lets riders select from multiple front wing sizes (600R through 1250R), two fuselage lengths (Small and Medium), and four R Series stabilizer options (110R, 120R, 135R, and 151R), making it one of the more customizable foil kits on the market.
The R Series line gained significant visibility after James Casey used the 860R and 770R High Modulus wings to win the Molokai 2 Oahu Downwind World Championship and Paddle Imua, respectively. That racing pedigree informs the entire R Series design philosophy: prioritize glide distance and pumping efficiency over tight-radius maneuverability.

Who It's For
The R Series targets intermediate to advanced foilers focused on downwind paddling, open-water distance runs, flatwater pumping, and dock starts. The 13.0 aspect ratio across the lineup delivers low drag and sustained glide, rewarding riders who want the foil to carry momentum rather than requiring constant input. Larger wings like the 1075R and 1250R suit heavier riders or lighter wind conditions where low-end lift matters, while the 600R and 680R cater to lighter riders or stronger wind scenarios where speed and control take priority.
This is not a surf-style or freestyle foil. Code Foils positions the R Series as their efficiency-focused line — what they describe as their "longboard foils" — in contrast to the lower-aspect S Series built for carving and wave riding. Riders who value long, unbroken glides over sharp directional changes will find the R Series in its element.
In the Lineup
Within Code Foils' range, the R Series sits alongside the S Series (surf/freeride, ~9.5 aspect ratio) and the X Series. The R Series occupies the high-performance efficiency end of the spectrum, while the S Series handles more expressive, maneuverable riding. For buyers deciding between the two, the choice comes down to discipline: downwind and distance riding points toward the R, while wave riding and freestyle lean toward the S.
The complete foil package sold through retailers like Green Hat Kiteboarding bundles all components at a lower combined price than purchasing each piece individually. Comparable high-aspect downwind foil setups exist from brands like Armstrong (HA Series) and Axis (PNG Series), both targeting a similar rider profile with full-carbon construction and modular component systems. Code Foils differentiates through the consistent 13.0 aspect ratio across seven front wing sizes, giving riders a uniform feel when sizing up or down within the line.
