Overview

The Code X Series Complete Foil is a full hydrofoil package from Code Foils, pairing the brand's performance-focused X Series front wing with a matched mast, fuselage, and AR Series tail wing. The X Series platform is designed for surf-style foiling across disciplines including prone surf, wing foiling, kite foiling, downwinding, and wake foiling. The lineup expanded in late 2025 when Code Foils added the 740X, 890X, and 985X front wings alongside the original 810X, broadening the range of wing areas available to suit different conditions and rider weights.

Code Foils builds the X Series using high modulus carbon construction throughout, prioritizing stiffness and direct feedback. The complete foil's modular mounting system means every component — front wing, tail, fuselage, and mast — can be swapped independently as a rider's needs change.

Key Specs

  • Front wing options: 740X (740 cm² area, 780 mm span) / 810X (810 cm² area, 814 mm span)
  • Aspect ratio (front wing): 8.2
  • Tail wing options: 142 AR, 150 AR, 158 AR, 166 AR, 175 AR, 188 AR
  • Fuselage options: Small (480 mm) / Medium (510 mm)
  • Mast sizes: Small / Medium
  • Construction: High Modulus Carbon

Who It's For

The Code X Series Complete Foil suits intermediate to advanced riders who prioritize tight, surf-style turns and responsive handling. The 740X front wing is the most reactive option in the X lineup, tuned for steep and critical wave faces where instant roll engagement and a compact turning radius matter most. The 810X offers more surface area and a broader usable range, handling everything from small rollers to overhead surf while retaining the carving character that defines the X Series.

Tail wing selection lets riders fine-tune the balance between glide and maneuverability. Smaller AR tails like the 142 and 150 favor quicker turning and a looser feel, while larger options such as the 175 and 188 add pitch stability and smoother pumping for connecting sections or lighter wind sessions. The fuselage choice follows a similar pattern: the Small fuselage at 480 mm tightens the turning arc and increases pump cadence, while the Medium at 510 mm provides a more balanced setup between agility and pitch stability.

In the Lineup

The X Series sits alongside the S Series and R Series in Code Foils' front wing range. The S Series targets all-around versatility from beginner through advanced, and the R Series focuses on downwind efficiency and glide. The X Series occupies the brand's dedicated surf-performance slot, built for riders who want aggressive carving and quick transitions above all else. All three series share the same mast, fuselage, and tail mounting interfaces, so riders who own multiple front wings can swap between them without changing hardware.

Within the complete foil packages offered by retailers, the Code S Series Complete Foil provides a more forgiving, all-conditions alternative at a similar price point. Riders shopping the X Series are typically choosing between the 740X for maximum reactivity in quality surf and the 810X for a wider performance envelope that handles a greater variety of wave sizes and wind conditions.
