Overview

The Delta 1740 High Aspect Front Wing is the largest wing in Delta Hydrofoil's Progression HA series of front foil wings. Built for wing foiling and surf foiling, the HA 1740 pairs a generous 1740 cm² surface area with a 110 cm wingspan and a 6.9 aspect ratio. That combination delivers efficient glide and strong low-speed lift while remaining compact enough to carve through turns. Delta Hydrofoil, a brand focused on high-aspect and performance foil designs, positions the Progression HA line as its learning-to-intermediate tier — and the 1740 sits at the top of that range as the highest-lift option.

Who It's For

Delta designed the HA 1740 for new riders in the 180–230 lb range who need early lift and stability while learning to foil. Its large planform area gets heavier riders on foil sooner and at lower speeds, reducing the power threshold needed from a wing or wave. Intermediate riders also benefit in marginal conditions — the wing's glide and pumping efficiency help maintain flight when wind drops or between swells.

Lighter riders are not excluded. In genuinely light wind, a sub-160 lb rider can pair the 1740 with a larger wing sail or prone setup and take advantage of the same low-end lift. Delta recommends pairing the wing with a long fuselage and a large rear stabilizer to flatten the learning curve and maximize light-wind range.

In the Lineup

Within Delta's Progression HA series, the 1740 is the largest of three sizes — the 1280 and 1450 sit below it for riders who want a bit more maneuverability or who weigh less. All three share the same high-aspect planform philosophy but trade surface area against agility as the size decreases. The full Progression HA line retails between $449 and $549 new.

Beyond the Progression tier, Delta's catalog branches into the Performance HA series (590–1050 cm², aspect ratios from 9.5 to 11.7) for experienced riders chasing speed and efficiency, the Carve MA 850 for carving-focused riding, the Reflex series for prone surf, and the Surf series (1280–1660 cm²) with lower aspect ratios tuned for tight wave turns. Riders who start on the 1740 and progress typically step down to the Progression HA 1450 or cross over to the Performance HA 1050 as their skills and pump technique develop. This particular listing is a used unit priced at $460, a meaningful discount from the $549 new retail price.
