Overview

The Delta Reflex Front Wings are a line of low-aspect-ratio hydrofoil front wings from Delta Hydrofoil, available in 890 cm² and 1500 cm² sizes. Both wings use Delta's patent-pending reflex foil technology, a design where the trailing edge of the wing curves slightly upward. This reflexed profile gives the wings inherent pitch stability, a predictable top-end speed, and consistently balanced foot pressure throughout the speed range. The upward-curved trailing edge differentiates the Reflex series from conventional hydrofoil wing profiles by trading some raw lift for greater stability and control.

Delta positions the Reflex series primarily for kite foiling, though the 1500 is also suitable for wing foiling and surf foiling for medium-to-light riders. Both wings are compatible with Delta's M-frame (aluminum) and R-frame (carbon) systems and work well with short fuselages and smaller stabilizers. Delta notes the Reflex wings can even be flown without a rear stabilizer as mono wings. Hardware is sold separately.

Who It's For

Delta recommends the Reflex wings for riders learning to foil, thanks to the built-in pitch stability that makes them forgiving at varying speeds. The 1500 suits beginner-to-intermediate kite foilers and lighter riders exploring wing foiling or surf foiling, offering generous lift from its larger surface area while still handling like a smaller wing. The 890 is aimed at intermediate or lightweight kite foilers who want a compact, maneuverable wing that remains composed at higher speeds.

Because the reflexed profile delivers stable foot pressure across the entire speed range, riders spend less effort managing pitch and can focus on technique. The low aspect ratios on both sizes keep the wings responsive in turns and tight maneuvers rather than optimizing for pure glide or upwind performance. Riders who prioritize predictability and ease of use over outright speed or high-aspect efficiency will find the Reflex wings well matched to their needs.

In the Lineup

Within Delta Hydrofoil's catalog, the Reflex series sits alongside several other front-wing families. The Progression HA series (1280–1740 cm², aspect ratios around 6.2–6.9) targets riders who want higher-aspect wings for prone and wing foiling progression, while the Performance HA line (590–1050 cm², aspect ratios from 9.5 to 11.7) serves advanced riders chasing speed and glide. The Reflex wings occupy a distinct niche with their low aspect ratios and reflexed trailing edge, prioritizing stability and accessibility over high-aspect performance. A third Reflex model, the 860, also appears in Delta's spec sheet at 57 cm span and 3.8 aspect ratio, sitting between the two sizes offered here.

For buyers comparing across brands, the Reflex 1500's combination of large area and low aspect ratio puts it in a similar category to other stability-oriented kite foil wings in the 1400–1600 cm² range, though the reflexed trailing-edge design is specific to Delta. The 890 competes with compact kite-foil wings aimed at lighter or more skilled riders who don't need maximum surface area.
