Overview
The 2024 Duotone Slick D/LAB Wing is the premium-tier version of Duotone's Slick wing platform, built for freeride and freestyle wing foiling. Where the standard Slick uses Dacron in its inflatable structure, the D/LAB substitutes Aluula composite on both the leading edge and strut, resulting in a noticeably lighter and stiffer frame. The canopy uses Duotone's MOD3 material, and the wing features their Mini Boom handle system, which allows riders to grip anywhere along the center strut rather than being locked into fixed handle positions.
For 2024, Duotone refined the Slick platform with a reshaped outline that smooths the transition from leading edge to wingtip, aiming to reduce tip drag. A revised panel layout targets improved draft stability, and the canopy tension has been retuned to hold its profile through gusts without requiring the rider to constantly adjust hand pressure for depowering.

Who It's For
Duotone positions the Slick D/LAB for riders who want a do-everything wing that handles freeride cruising, jumping, and freestyle progression. The Aluula construction keeps the frame rigid at higher pressures, which pays off most in stronger, gusty conditions where a softer wing would flex and lose efficiency. Riders who regularly session in overpowered or variable wind will feel the difference in frame stability compared to Dacron-built alternatives.
That said, the wing's accessible power delivery and rounded outline — which recovers cleanly from tip strikes — make it usable across a wide skill range. Intermediate riders stepping into their first high-end wing and advanced riders pushing freestyle limits both fall within the intended audience. The main barrier is price: the Aluula upgrade adds significant cost over the standard Slick, and the performance gap narrows for lighter-wind, lower-intensity sessions where frame stiffness matters less.
In the Lineup
The Slick D/LAB sits at the top of Duotone's 2024 Slick family, which includes three tiers: the standard Slick (Dacron construction, widest size range from 3.0m to 7.0m), the Slick Concept Blue (eco-focused materials), and the D/LAB (Aluula, 4.0m–6.5m only). All three share the same aerodynamic platform, MOD3 canopy, and Mini Boom, so the riding character is consistent — the differences come down to frame materials, weight, stiffness, and cost.
Outside the Slick line, Duotone's 2024 wing range also includes the Unit (wave-oriented) and Ventis (foil-specific light-wind design), each serving different riding styles. Among competitors, the Slick D/LAB occupies similar territory to other Aluula-equipped freeride wings from brands like F-One and Ensis, where the core value proposition is the same: lower weight and higher rigidity at a premium price point over the brand's standard offering.
