Overview

The 2025 Duotone Skybrid SLS is a mid-length wing foil board designed to bridge the gap between Duotone's dedicated downwinder shapes and their compact wing foil boards like the Sky Style. Built around a longer, narrower outline with a wider nose and tail, the Skybrid SLS prioritizes glide efficiency and early takeoffs while retaining enough width for stable water starts. It uses Duotone's SLS (Strong Light Superior) construction tier, placing it between the standard Skybrid and the top-end Skybrid D/LAB in the brand's lineup.

The hull features a single concave transitioning to a flat bottom, paired with a higher nose rocker and tail cutouts intended to help the board release from the water early. Beveled rails with a rounded apex aim to keep takeoffs clean, while a recessed deck positions the rider's feet closer to the foil for more direct feedback. A raised front-foot deck angle adds leverage for pumping and maneuvering once on foil. The board ships with three Duotone footstraps per size, though it is also set up for strapless riding.

Who It's For

Duotone positions the Skybrid SLS for intermediate to advanced wing foilers who want more glide than a compact wing board offers but don't need a full-length downwinder shape. The extended waterline and narrower outline suit riders focused on light-wind performance and efficient pumping onto foil, particularly those pairing the board with smaller, higher-aspect foils. Recommended rider weight ranges from under 65 kg on the 55 L up to 125 kg on the 115 L, giving a broad spread across the five sizes.

Beyond pure wing foiling, Duotone lists the Skybrid SLS as suitable for parawing (kite foiling with a wing-style board), foil assist, and prone foiling. That multi-discipline intent makes it a practical choice for riders who split sessions across different foiling modes and prefer one board that covers several use cases.

In the Lineup

Within Duotone's 2025 foil-board range, the Skybrid SLS sits in the middle of a three-tier construction ladder. The standard Skybrid shares the same outline at a lower price point with heavier glass-based layup, while the Skybrid D/LAB uses a hollow-shell composite that Duotone claims is more than 30 percent lighter than the SLS. Riders prioritizing value may look at the standard Skybrid; those chasing the lowest possible swing weight step up to the D/LAB.

Compared to Duotone's other board families, the Sky Style is a shorter, wider freeride shape for riders who value maneuverability over glide, while the Downwinder Slim is a longer, speed-oriented shape built for open-ocean runs. The Skybrid SLS occupies the space between those two, offering mid-length glide in a package compact enough for flat-water wing sessions. Among competing brands, boards like the F-One Rocket Mid-Length and Starboard Hyper Foil target a similar niche — mid-length glide boards for wing foiling — making them the most direct cross-brand comparisons.
