Overview

The 2025 Duotone Ventis D/LAB Wing is the premium light-wind freeride wing in Duotone's current lineup, built around a three-strut platform designed by Ken Winner. It uses Aluula composite in both the leading edge and struts, paired with a 50g ripstop canopy, resulting in a frame that is roughly 13% lighter than the standard Ventis. The D/LAB also features a slightly smaller leading-edge diameter than the standard model, which reduces aerodynamic drag and softens ride feedback in gusts. Available in 7.0 m² and 8.0 m² sizes, the wing targets sessions where marginal wind would otherwise keep riders on shore.

Duotone positions the Ventis around a deeper canopy profile that extends into relocated side struts near the wingtips. This layout is intended to carry power all the way to the tips while keeping the overall span compact enough for comfortable water starts and pumping. An extended carbon front handle supports one-handed riding, and the center strut is angled to promote a relaxed arm position during longer sessions.

Who It's For

The Ventis D/LAB is aimed at intermediate-to-advanced wing foilers who regularly ride in light wind — roughly 6–20 knots depending on size and rider weight. Its three-strut, deep-profile design is engineered to generate lift without requiring aggressive pumping, so riders who want to get on foil with less physical effort in marginal conditions are the primary audience. At 3.1–3.3 kg, it is light enough to hold overhead for extended periods, which matters on those longer upwind tacks common in light air.

Because the D/LAB construction commands a significant price premium, it suits committed foilers who ride frequently in low wind and value the weight savings and stiffer response that Aluula provides over standard Dacron-strut wings. Riders who only occasionally encounter light wind may find the standard Ventis a more practical choice at a lower cost.

In the Lineup

Within Duotone's 2025 wing range, the Ventis D/LAB sits as the high-performance light-wind specialist. The standard Ventis shares the same three-strut shape and size options but uses conventional materials at a lower price point. For riders who want even larger surface area, Duotone offers the Ventis FS D/LAB, which adds Fusion Technology for an ultra-light-wind focus. The non-D/LAB Ventis FS fills a similar role at a more accessible price. All four models share the same core design philosophy — deep canopy, relocated side struts, reduced tip drag — and differ mainly in materials and resulting weight.

Compared to competing premium light-wind wings, the Ventis D/LAB sits alongside options like the Ensis Spin and the F-One Strike V4 CWC in the Aluula-class tier. Its three-strut layout and deep profile distinguish it from two-strut competitors that prioritize neutral handling over raw low-end power.
