Overview

The 2026 Duotone Float Foil Wing is a second-generation wave and freefly wing built for riders who prioritize drift, control, and clean wave riding over raw power. Duotone positions the Float as a specialized complement to the broader Unit lineup, focusing squarely on wave performance and downwind freefly sessions. The 2026 model introduces a redesigned profile with a low sweep angle and forward-oriented shape, paired with reduced profile depth in the center and enhanced profile at the quarter span for smoother sheeting and improved drift stability.

The Float uses a minimalistic boom-only design with no windows, keeping weight low across the full size range. Construction relies on proven 160g Dacron throughout the frame and a MOD3 S canopy that balances durability with direct power delivery. The boom is not included — Duotone's Fusion boom system is sold separately.

Who It's For

The Float is aimed at wing foilers who spend most of their time on waves or riding swell, from intermediate riders comfortable on foil through advanced wave specialists. Its front-handed power delivery and lower-angle wingtips are tuned for drifting and floating through turns rather than generating maximum pull, making it a natural fit for riders who want the wing to stay out of the way during carves and transitions. The size range from 2.0 to 5.5 m² covers wind conditions from roughly 8 to 44 knots, giving dedicated wave riders a quiver option for nearly any session.

Riders looking for an all-around wing that also handles freestyle tricks or light-wind cruising will likely find the Float too specialized. This is a purpose-built wave tool — low drag on the wave face, stable drift when depowered, and responsive enough to repower quickly between sets.

In the Lineup

Within Duotone's 2026 wing range, the Float sits alongside the Unit as one of two core wing families. The Unit covers freeride, freestyle, and wave duties as the versatile all-rounder, available in a wider size spread up to 6.5 m². The Float narrows that focus to wave riding and freefly performance, trading versatility for lower drag and superior drift characteristics. For riders who want the Float's wave-tuned shape in a lighter package, Duotone offers the Float SLS, which cuts weight further by reducing leading-edge tube diameter.

Compared to wave-oriented wings from other brands — such as the Reedin SuperWing Wave or the F-One Strike V4 — the Float occupies a similar niche: a boom-only, windowless design optimized for clean handling on the wave face. Its competitive weight figures and eight-size lineup give it broad wind-range coverage within the wave-wing category.
