Overview

The 2026 Duotone Float SLS Wing is the premium entry in Duotone's wave-oriented wing lineup, built around the brand's SLS (Strong Light Superior) construction philosophy. Sitting above the standard Float in the range, the Float SLS is purpose-built for wave riding and freefly wing foiling, prioritizing low weight and responsive handling. It ships in a boom-only, windowless configuration — the Fusion Boom is sold separately — and is available in eight sizes from 2.0 m² to 5.5 m². For the 2026 model year this is the first time the Float has received the SLS treatment, giving wave-focused riders a lighter-framed alternative to the standard Dacron Float.

Who It's For

The Float SLS targets intermediate-to-advanced wing foilers who prioritize wave riding and swell-chasing over flat-water freeriding. Its low sweep angle and forward-oriented profile produce a stable draft position with smooth, predictable sheeting — traits that reward riders who want to focus on carving rather than managing power surges. Lower-angle wingtips help the wing drift and stay aloft when depowered between turns, a characteristic that matters most during down-the-line wave riding.

Because the PentaTX frame is significantly lighter than the 160 g Dacron used in the standard Float, the SLS version suits riders willing to invest in reduced swing weight for quicker transitions and less arm fatigue during longer sessions. The 3.5–5.0 m² sizes offered through Jupiter Watersports cover a practical wind range from roughly 9 to 28 knots, making them relevant for riders in moderate-to-strong trade-wind conditions or coastal wave spots.

In the Lineup

Duotone's 2026 wing range splits into two families: the Unit line for all-round and freeride use, and the Float line for wave and freefly. Each family offers a standard Dacron build and a lighter SLS build. The Float SLS sits at the top of the wave category; the standard 2026 Float shares the same shape philosophy and MOD3 S canopy but uses heavier 160 g Dacron in the frame and retails for roughly $400 less across comparable sizes. Riders who want wave-tuned handling at a lower price point can look at the standard Float, while those after all-round versatility with SLS construction would consider the Unit SLS instead.

Among competing brands, the Float SLS occupies a similar niche to other premium wave-specific wings built with ultralight frame cloths — products positioned above their brand's standard wave wing and priced accordingly. Within Duotone's own catalog, choosing between the Float SLS and the Unit SLS comes down to whether wave performance or all-round range is the higher priority.
