Overview

The Duotone Front Wing Carve 3.0 D/LAB is the third generation of Duotone's performance-oriented foil front wing, built using the brand's top-tier D/LAB construction. Released as a 2025 model, it succeeds the Aero Carve 2.0 D/LAB and sits at the top of the Carve lineup. The wing is designed for use across multiple foiling disciplines, including wing foiling, surf foiling, prone foiling, and kite foiling. Its HM (high-modulus) carbon layup uses an optimized fiber mix and orientation to keep weight low while maintaining structural rigidity. A distinguishing feature of the D/LAB platform is the integrated front wing and forward fuselage section, which eliminates the bolted connection found on standard front wings — reducing fastener count, overall drag, and weight.

The Carve 3.0 D/LAB is offered in five sizes — 500, 650, 800, 950, and 1100 — spanning a wide performance range from tight, speed-focused turns on the smaller wings to more lift and stability on the larger options. Aspect ratios run from 7.4 on the 500 down to 6.7 on the 1100, placing the line in moderate-to-high aspect territory suited for responsive carving rather than pure glide.

Key Specs

  • Construction: HM Carbon (D/LAB)
  • Mast connection: 3BS (three-bolt standard)

  • Recommended stabilizer: PX 160 (sizes 500–800), PX 175 (sizes 950–1100)
  • 500: 77.5 cm² surface, 61 cm span, 7.4 aspect ratio
  • 650: 100.8 cm² surface, 68 cm span, 7.2 aspect ratio
  • 800: 124.0 cm² surface, 75 cm span, 7.0 aspect ratio
  • 950: 147.3 cm² surface, 81 cm span, 6.9 aspect ratio
  • 1100: 170.5 cm² surface, 86 cm span, 6.7 aspect ratio

Who It's For

The Carve 3.0 D/LAB targets intermediate to advanced foilers who ride across multiple disciplines and want a single front wing platform that handles varied conditions. Riders focused on carving, tight directional transitions, and freestyle maneuvers will find this wing well-suited, as the profile emphasizes quick rail-to-rail response and pitch stability at speed. The smaller sizes (500 and 650) lean toward experienced riders looking for speed and agility in moderate-to-strong wind, while the 950 and 1100 provide more surface area for heavier riders or lighter wind sessions where early lift matters.

Because the D/LAB construction carries a premium price point, this wing makes the most sense for committed foilers who will notice the weight savings and reduced drag that come from the integrated fuselage design. Riders still developing their foiling fundamentals may find better value in the SLS version of the same wing.

In the Lineup

Within Duotone's front wing range, the Carve 3.0 D/LAB is the flagship carving option. It sits above the Carve 3.0 SLS, which shares a similar outline but uses a bolt-on construction and a slightly different profile — the D/LAB version runs a thinner, faster profile with marginally lower aspect ratios compared to the SLS at equivalent sizes. The previous generation, the Aero Carve 2.0 D/LAB, was available in a similar size spread; the 3.0 update focuses on improved pumping efficiency, glide, and pop for freestyle applications.

For riders who prioritize pure glide and upwind performance over carving agility, Duotone's Glide D/LAB line offers a higher-aspect alternative within the same construction tier. Riders comparing across brands may also consider wings like the Armstrong CF series or Axis front wings in similar area ranges, though direct cross-brand compatibility requires matching fuselage and mast standards.
