Overview

The Duotone Kite/Wing Pump is Duotone's standard manual inflation pump, built for inflating kites and wings on the beach before a session. Available in two barrel lengths — 20" and 24" — it covers the core function every kite and wing rider needs with a dual-action cylinder, an integrated pressure gauge, and multi-valve compatibility. Duotone (formerly the kite division of North) has included a version of this pump in its accessory lineup for several product generations, refining the hose, valve adapters, and internal sealing over time.

The pump uses a switchable single-action / dual-action mechanism. In dual-action mode, air is pushed into the kite or wing on both the upstroke and the downstroke, roughly halving the number of pump cycles needed compared to a single-action pump. Once the bladder firms up and resistance increases, riders can switch to single-action mode to finish topping off pressure without excessive effort. An integrated pressure gauge on the barrel lets riders monitor PSI during inflation so they can hit the manufacturer-recommended pressure without over- or under-inflating.

Key Specs

  • Available sizes: 20" (L) / 24" (XL)
  • Action type: Switchable single-action and dual-action
  • Pressure gauge: Integrated, barrel-mounted
  • Valve compatibility: Duotone/North valves, plus Boston-style valves (used by Naish, Cabrinha, Core, and others)
  • Construction: Sand-resistant internal membrane system

Who It's For

This pump suits any kite or wing rider who needs a reliable manual inflation tool. Beginners purchasing their first kite or wing setup will often need a standalone pump, since not every board-and-kite package includes one. The 20" barrel is adequate for most riders and slightly easier to transport, while the 24" XL barrel moves more air per stroke, which is helpful for riders inflating larger kites (12 m and up) or multiple kites in a single session.

Because the included valve adapters fit Boston-style valves in addition to Duotone and North valves, the pump is not limited to Duotone gear. Riders running mixed quivers — for example, a Duotone wing paired with a Cabrinha kite — can use one pump for everything. The dual-action-to-single-action switch also makes it practical across a wide pressure range, from the relatively low pressures of large LEI kites to the firmer pressures some high-aspect wings call for.

In the Lineup

Within Duotone's own accessory catalog, this manual pump sits below the Duotone Lazepump, the brand's battery-powered electric pump designed for hands-free inflation. The Lazepump commands a significantly higher price point and targets riders who want maximum convenience or who inflate several kites back-to-back (instructors, shop demo fleets). The manual Kite/Wing Pump is the straightforward, no-battery-needed option that most recreational riders default to.

Compared to similar pumps from other brands — such as the Cabrinha Kite Pump or the Naish Kite/Wing Pump — the Duotone sits in the same general price bracket and feature set: dual-action, pressure gauge, multi-valve hose. The main differentiators at this level tend to be valve-adapter fit, hose durability, and barrel volume rather than major design differences. For riders already on Duotone or North equipment, using the matched pump ensures the valve adapter seats cleanly without fiddling with third-party fittings.
