Overview

The F-One Carbon Mast 16 is a one-piece carbon hydrofoil mast built around a 16mm-thick profile, designed as a versatile option across kite foiling, wing foiling, and surf foiling disciplines. Manufactured using carbon pre-preg construction — where carbon fibers are pre-impregnated with epoxy resin before being molded and cured in a single production cycle — the mast achieves a monobloc structure with no joints or bonded sections along its length. F-One refers to this internal reinforcement layout as the SPINE structure, with carbon fiber layers oriented at 0° for bending stiffness and approximately 45° for torsional stiffness.

The mast ships with F-One's TITAN 2 connection at the fuselage end, which uses two M8 screws in a reinforced junction design. At the board end, a redesigned top plate supports lockable T-nuts and a keyhole-shaped Quick-Attach System for faster rigging. The top plate is compatible with boards using the F-One Twin-Tracks mounting standard.

Who It's For

The Carbon Mast 16 is aimed at intermediate to advanced foilers who ride across multiple disciplines and want a single carbon mast that balances stiffness, glide, and durability. According to F-One, the 16mm profile provides direct feedback during turns and effective pumping, making it suitable for riders who value responsive handling without sacrificing longevity.

The 80 cm length is particularly well-suited to surf foiling, where a shorter mast helps reduce tip breaches in shallower water and supports tighter, more precise maneuvers. The 85 cm length adds clearance for wing foiling and kite foiling in choppier conditions where extra height above the water surface helps maintain smooth flight. Both lengths work for riders progressing from aluminum masts who want the weight savings and responsiveness that carbon construction provides.

In the Lineup

Within F-One's current mast range, the Carbon Mast 16 sits between the aluminum mast and the premium Carbon Mast HM. The aluminum option uses 6063-grade alloy and serves as the entry point for riders across all disciplines. The Carbon Mast HM steps up to a 14mm profile using High Modulus (M40J) carbon fiber, which is roughly 1.5 times stiffer than the standard carbon used in the Mast 16, allowing a thinner cross-section for reduced drag. F-One notes that both carbon masts deliver similar on-water performance, but the HM trades a small amount of durability for marginally better glide at speed — making it the preferred choice for downwind specialists and riders chasing top-end efficiency.

The Carbon Mast 16, then, occupies the practical middle ground: lighter and more responsive than aluminum, more durable than the HM, and priced accordingly. Riders comparing across brands will find it positioned similarly to carbon masts from competitors like Armstrong and Axis in the mid-range carbon category.
