Overview

The KT Nomad Front Wing is a swept mid-aspect hydrofoil front wing designed by Kane De Wilde in collaboration with KT Surfing. It sits in the middle of KT's front wing lineup, bridging the gap between the high-aspect Atlas and the low-aspect Instinct. Available in four sizes — 700, 830, 980, and 1160 cm² — the Nomad is built for a broad range of foiling disciplines including wing foiling, prone, downwind, SUP, kite, wake, tow, and surf. Its satin carbon construction keeps weight low across the range, and each wing ships with a protective cover.

The defining design feature is KT's high-camber airfoil section paired with inflected wingtips. The high camber profile shifts lift generation forward in the speed envelope, giving the wing earlier takeoff and stronger pump response than a conventional mid-aspect shape. The inflected wingtips are shaped to resist ventilation when the wing breaches the surface during aggressive carves and turns, letting riders push harder through transitions without losing connection.

Who It's For

KT positions the Nomad for intermediate to advanced foilers who want agile, surf-oriented handling without sacrificing glide and speed range. The high-camber airfoil and compact span are tuned for riders who prioritize tight turns and responsive rail-to-rail transitions — typical demands in wing foiling, prone surf foiling, and downwind runs. Because the design generates lift earlier and resists stalling more than a standard mid-aspect wing, KT recommends sizing down 10–20 percent compared to equivalent wings from other brands.

The larger 1160 and 980 sizes suit riders in lighter wind or heavier riders who need more low-end lift and pump efficiency. The 830 and 700 sizes cater to lighter pilots or stronger conditions where top-end speed and maneuverability take priority. With usable speed ranges stretching from roughly 6.5 mph on the large end to 34 mph on the small end, the Nomad line covers a wide performance window across sizes.

In the Lineup

Within KT's current foil range, the Nomad occupies the mid-aspect tier. The Atlas sits above it in aspect ratio, optimized for pure glide and downwind efficiency, while the Instinct sits below with a lower aspect ratio and more forgiving low-speed stability aimed at newer riders. The Nomad blends speed and turning performance, making it KT's go-to front wing for riders focused on surf-style and freeride foiling across multiple disciplines.

For buyers comparing across brands, the Nomad's aspect ratios (8.7–9.5 depending on size) and emphasis on high-camber lift place it in a similar category to other mid-high aspect surf-oriented wings. Its standout trait is the claimed ability to size down significantly thanks to early lift and stall resistance — a factor worth weighing when choosing between the Nomad and competitors at the same area.
