Overview

The 2024 North Nova Pro Wing is a performance-oriented inflatable wing designed for wing foiling across a wide range of conditions. Produced by North Action Sports, the Nova Pro sits in the upper tier of North's wing lineup, bridging the gap between the standard Nova and the race-focused Mode Pro. It features North's Hybrid N-Weave45 airframe construction in the strut and leading edge center section, paired with a Hybrid Matrix canopy that places stiffer Matrix material in high-load zones and a lighter N-HTRS canopy across the front third. Carbon UDi Technology — carbon unidirectional tapes positioned inside the leading edge — reinforces the wingtips against deflection.

A defining feature of the 2024 Nova Pro is the ShiftLock Modular Track Mounting system, an industry-first rail integrated into the strut that allows riders to slide and lock handles or a boom into any position along its length. Four carbon handle lengths are available (250mm, 400mm, 500mm, and a 1100mm boom), all sold separately. The wing also uses Active Twist wingtips with a tapered leading-edge diameter, designed to reflex under load and shed excess power while reducing swing weight. Dual HyperFlow Inflation Valves on the leading edge and strut allow independent pressure tuning between the two chambers.

Who It's For

The Nova Pro is aimed primarily at intermediate to advanced wing foilers who want a single wing that handles freestyle, wave riding, and freeride sessions without compromise. Its swept outline and balanced dihedral are tuned for stability in gusty conditions, making it forgiving enough for progressing intermediates while still offering the responsiveness that experienced riders expect. North positions it as a wing with accessible power delivery — it generates lift and pop without demanding aggressive pumping technique, which separates it from more race-oriented designs.

Riders who prioritize versatility over outright top-end speed will find the Nova Pro well-suited to their needs. The wind ranges across the five sizes cover everything from light-wind cruising (8 knots on the 6m) to strong-wind sessions (38+ knots on the 2.9m), giving riders broad quiver coverage with just two or three sizes.

In the Lineup

Within North's 2024 wing range, the Nova Pro occupies the performance-freeride slot above the standard Nova and below the speed-oriented Mode Pro. The standard Nova shares a similar outline but uses less advanced materials, while the Mode Pro is designed for riders chasing raw speed and powered-up performance in strong, variable winds. The Nova Pro strikes a middle ground: stiffer and more direct than the Nova, but more forgiving and versatile than the Mode Pro.

For buyers cross-shopping other brands, the Nova Pro competes in the premium all-round wing category alongside options like the Duotone Slick and the Ensis Score Pro. Its N-Weave45 construction offers a lighter, stiffer airframe than standard Dacron-built wings at a lower price point than full ultra-light canopy wings, positioning it as a strong value option in the high-performance segment.
