2025 North Midi Foilboard

The 2025 North Midi Foilboard is a mid-length wing foilboard from North Action Sports that blends a surfboard-inspired outline with dedicated foil performance. Launched as a new model in North's 2025 lineup, the Midi sits in a growing category of longer, narrower foil boards designed to maximize waterline length for glide and early lift while keeping overall volume moderate. The board spans six sizes from 5'0" (44 L) to 6'4" (96 L), covering a wide range of rider weights and conditions. Its design intent centers on versatility — North positions the Midi for wing foiling, prone foiling, and compatibility with electric Foil Drive assist systems, aided by a 2.4 GHz signal feed-through built into the carbon laminate.

The Midi's shape features a narrow width-to-length ratio, steep chines along the rails to reduce drag during planing, and a flat bottom with tail rocker for clean water release. The nose draws from downwind board design with a slight release channel. On deck, riders get EVA traction padding, centreline and offset strap inserts, a recessed carry handle, and a centre arch bar for foot reference.

The North Midi is aimed at intermediate to advanced foilers who can already get up on foil consistently and want a single board that handles multiple disciplines. Its narrow profile demands active balance at standstill and during water starts, which makes it a poor match for riders still learning their first foil transitions. Riders in the 75–100+ kg range will find appropriate volume across the size spread, with the larger 82 L and 96 L options suiting heavier pilots or those who want extra float for lighter wind days.

The board's length-to-width ratio gives it a ride feel that skews smaller than the volume number suggests — independent testing noted that the 5'8" (70 L) felt closer to a typical 5'2" compact board once on foil. That makes the Midi well suited for freeriding, small-wave riding, downwind runs, and Foil Drive sessions without needing to swap boards. Wind range during testing spanned roughly 10 to 30 knots.

The Midi is a distinct addition to North's foilboard range rather than a direct replacement for an existing model. North's established compact foilboards — the Pace for freeride and the Cross for wave-oriented riding — remain in the lineup as shorter, wider options. The Midi fills a gap for riders who want more glide and waterline length without moving to a full-size downwind board, effectively bridging the compact wing board and downwind categories.
