Overview

The North Track Skate Board is a surf-style skateboard from North Action Sports, the kite and wing foil brand, built for land-based carving and cross-training when conditions keep you off the water. Introduced as part of North's 2024 lineup, it pairs a 7-ply Canadian maple deck with forged aluminium surf-style trucks that mimic the lateral pumping and rail-to-rail carving feel of riding a wave or foilboard. The complete package ships ready to ride with deck, trucks, wheels, bearings, ratchet bindings, and PVD-coated stainless steel hardware.

North positions the Track as a tool for wing foilers and kiteboarders who want to practise wing handling on pavement using a small wind wing, or simply stay sharp between sessions. The ratchet binding system locks your feet to the deck, giving a board-sport connection closer to what riders experience on the water than a standard skateboard offers.

  • Bearings: ABEC 7
  • Hardware: PVD-coated 316 stainless steel
  • Bindings: Ratchet-style foot bindings

Who It's For

The Track suits intermediate to advanced wing foilers and kiteboarders looking for a cross-training option on flat days. Its surf-truck geometry rewards riders who already understand rail-to-rail weight transfer and lateral pumping — the same motion used to generate speed on a foilboard. Beginners to board sports may find the loose, carvey truck setup less stable than a conventional skateboard, so some prior board experience is helpful.

Because the deck ships with ratchet bindings, it is specifically aimed at riders who want to pair it with a handheld wind wing on pavement. This makes it a practical training aid for wing handling, jibes, and transitions without needing water or wind above a light breeze. Riders who simply want a deep-carving surf skate for flatland cruising can also use it without bindings attached.

In the Lineup

Within North's own range, the Track sits between the less expensive Balance Board (€119 / a static balance trainer for surf, kite, and foil skills) and the higher-end Dune Mountain Board (€499 / an all-terrain board with larger wheels for off-road use). The Track fills the mid-price, pavement-specific slot and is the only traditional surf-skate complete in North's current skateboard collection.

Compared to dedicated surf skates from brands like Carver or Smoothstar, the Track differentiates itself with the included ratchet bindings geared toward wing-sport crossover training. Riders who do not need bindings or wing compatibility may find broader deck-shape and truck-spring options from those surf-skate specialists, but the Track bundles everything a wing foiler needs for land sessions in a single complete board.
