Overview

The Quickblade Stingray All Carbon Hex Adjustable Paddle is a distinctively shaped SUP paddle built around a short, wide blade that departs significantly from traditional paddle design. Quickblade, a California-based paddle manufacturer with deep roots in outrigger canoe racing, originally developed the Stingray blade profile for outrigger use before adapting it for stand-up paddleboarding and downwind SUP foiling. The blade measures roughly 10 inches in length — about half the length of a conventional SUP paddle blade — and uses a thin, foiled cross-section set at a 12-degree angle to the shaft. This geometry is intended to reduce catch-and-exit time during each stroke and generate forward thrust through the power phase. The paddle is offered in an adjustable configuration with a hex-lock mechanism, allowing riders to dial in their preferred length within a defined range.

Who It's For

The Stingray is oriented toward experienced paddlers, particularly those focused on downwind SUP foiling with smaller, thinner foil setups. Its compact blade rewards a fast-cadence stroke and precise technique rather than raw pulling power per stroke. Riders transitioning from larger-bladed paddles should expect an adjustment period — the wider blade profile sits closer to the rail and demands a cleaner exit to avoid clipping the board. Quickblade recommends sizing the Stingray about two inches shorter than a rider's usual paddle length to account for the blade's shallow depth.

Because the Stingray trades brute catch power for stroke efficiency and lighter swing weight, it may not suit beginners who rely on a deep, powerful catch to get up on foil from a standstill. Riders who already have a confident, high-cadence stroke and are looking to reduce fatigue on longer downwind runs will find the design plays to their strengths. The 72 sq/in and 79 sq/in blade options offered in this adjustable version give intermediate-to-advanced paddlers a choice between a quicker, lighter setup and a slightly larger pulling surface.

In the Lineup

Within Quickblade's SUP paddle range, the Stingray sits alongside the Ono Ava and the Trifecta as a performance-tier option, but it fills a fundamentally different niche. The Ono Ava, available in 105 and 115 sq/in blade sizes with a 15-degree blade angle, is built for immediate power delivery and is more forgiving of varied technique — making it a common choice for newer foilers. The Stingray, by contrast, prioritizes stroke efficiency and light weight for riders whose technique is already refined. Quickblade also offers the Stingray in a fixed-length (cut-to-fit) version for paddlers who know their preferred shaft length and want to save a small amount of weight by eliminating the adjustment mechanism. The All Carbon Hex construction places the Stingray at the top of the material spectrum in Quickblade's lineup, using full carbon in both shaft and blade for a competition-grade build.
