Overview
The Slingshot SlingWing V5 is the fifth generation of Slingshot's flagship all-around inflatable wing, released as part of the brand's 2025 wing foiling lineup. Building on the SlingWing V4 and incorporating lessons from the performance-oriented SlingWing NXT, the V5 targets versatility across conditions — from light-wind cruising and flatwater foiling to wave riding and freestyle. It uses Slingshot's FrameLITE airframe construction, rated at 160 grams per square meter, paired with Code 95P canopy material along the trailing edge for durability and balanced handling. The wing ships with the SlingGrip Uni Handle, a single continuous boom that spans the full length of the strut, allowing riders to slide hand position for power adjustment, ride one-handed, and transition through tacks and jibes without searching for fixed handles. The boom attaches via a click system and can be swapped for traditional handles if preferred.

Who It's For
The SlingWing V5 suits a wide skill range, from riders progressing past their first flights to experienced foilers looking for a do-everything wing. Its high canopy tension keeps the center of effort stable in gusts, which reduces the constant micro-corrections that can fatigue newer riders, while the agile handling and low apparent weight in the hands give advanced riders room for freestyle tricks and wave riding. Independent testing found the wing balanced across freeride, freestyle, and wave disciplines without pushing too far toward any single specialty.
Condition-wise, the V5 is tuned for moderate to strong wind but can work at lighter wind limits — riders under 75 kg may benefit from slightly reducing inflation pressure by about 1 psi to unlock additional low-end power. The ten-size lineup, spanning 2.0m to 6.5m, gives riders precise quiver options for conditions ranging from overpowered bump-and-jump days down to light-wind sessions on larger foil setups.
In the Lineup
Within Slingshot's wing range, the SlingWing V5 occupies the core all-around slot. It sits alongside the SlingWing NXT V2, which is positioned as the higher-performance option for riders prioritizing speed and responsiveness over all-conditions ease. The V5 directly replaces the SlingWing V4 with improvements to canopy tension, weight distribution, and the introduction of the Uni Handle system. Slingshot has since released the SlingWing V6 as the next-generation successor, continuing the all-around design philosophy with further refinements to power delivery and gust handling.
For buyers cross-shopping other brands, the V5 competes in the versatile freeride wing category alongside options like the Duotone Slick and the Naish MK4. Its continuous boom and ten-size spread are distinguishing features at this price point, giving it a practical edge for riders who want handle flexibility and precise size matching for their local conditions.
