Overview

The Slingshot SlingWing NXT V2 is the second generation of Slingshot Sports' premium Aluula-construction wing, built for high-performance wing foiling. It succeeds the original SlingWing NXT with a revised airframe that prioritizes reduced weight, improved lift, and refined handling. The NXT V2 uses an Aluula laminate leading edge with a tapered diameter from center to tips, creating a stiff, high-tension canopy designed for immediate power delivery and responsive control. Slingshot removed the two center clips found on the original NXT, making the V2 the lightest wing in their current lineup.

A defining feature of the NXT V2 is its segmented strut construction, which divides the center strut into sections to reduce drag and add structural support. This design allows riders to customize stiffness by adjusting inflation pressure — higher pressure for more low-end grunt, lower pressure for a softer, more forgiving feel in gusty conditions. The wing also incorporates a TPU rigid leading-edge handle for roll-axis control during free-fly maneuvers, separate leading-edge and strut inflation valves, and compatibility with Slingshot's UniHandle grip system and ClickConnect tool-free handle mounts.

Who It's For

Slingshot positions the NXT V2 for intermediate to advanced wing foilers looking for a lightweight, responsive wing suited to freeride cruising, wave play, and freestyle or free-fly riding. The segmented strut and Aluula construction deliver the kind of direct, connected feel that experienced riders look for when jumping, transitioning, or riding one-handed. The size range spans from a 2m for strong-wind freestyle sessions up through a 6.5m for lighter conditions, with published wind ranges running roughly 9–50 knots across the full quiver.

Riders still progressing through the basics of wing foiling may find the NXT V2's stiff, direct feel less forgiving than a softer dacron wing. The adjustable strut pressure does offer some flexibility, but the overall design intent leans toward riders who already have solid board skills and want a wing that translates input into immediate response.

In the Lineup

The SlingWing NXT V2 sits at the top of Slingshot's wing range as their premium Aluula offering. Below it, the SlingWing V5 uses standard canopy materials at a lower price point while borrowing some design cues from the NXT platform, including a high-tension canopy layout and the UniHandle grip system. The V5 serves as Slingshot's mid-range all-rounder, while the NXT V2 targets riders willing to pay for Aluula's weight savings and stiffness.

Compared to the original SlingWing NXT, the V2 refines the airframe with the segmented strut, sheds weight through the clip removal, and adjusts the wingtip angle of attack for improved stability during free-fly maneuvers. In the broader market, the NXT V2 competes with other Aluula-equipped premium wings such as the Duotone Unit and the F-One Strike V4 CWC, occupying a similar price tier and performance bracket aimed at committed foilers seeking top-tier materials and construction.
