Overview

The Waydoo Evo Propulsion Unit is the modular electric drive component of the Waydoo Flyer Evo eFoil system. Manufactured by Waydoo, a Shenzhen-based brand focused on electric hydrofoil boards, this propulsion unit is offered in three tiers — Standard, Performance, and Elite — each targeting different rider weights and performance expectations. The unit attaches to the Evo mast and can be removed without disassembling the rest of the foil setup, which simplifies transport, storage, and servicing. Waydoo recommends pairing all three variants with their Glider G1500 or C1500 propeller.

The tiered approach lets existing Evo owners upgrade their drivetrain without replacing the board, battery, or hydrofoil. The Standard runs a 4,000 W motor in a die-cast aluminium alloy housing, while both the Performance and Elite step up to a 6,000 W motor. The difference between Performance and Elite is manufacturing method: the Performance housing is die-cast, whereas the Elite housing is CNC-machined from aluminium alloy for tighter tolerances and a more refined finish.

Who It's For

The Standard propulsion unit suits the majority of Evo riders. It provides enough thrust for cruising and learning at rider weights up to 130 kg, and its lower price point makes it a practical choice for recreational users and families sharing a single board. Riders who are new to eFoiling and primarily want relaxed, flat-water sessions will find the 4,000 W motor adequate.

The Performance and Elite units target heavier riders or those who want faster acceleration and a higher top-end speed. At 6,000 W, both can push the Evo up to roughly 45 km/h and support riders up to 170 kg. The Performance variant delivers that extra power at a moderate price increase, while the Elite appeals to riders who value the precision and durability of CNC-machined construction. Experienced eFoilers looking for snappier throttle response or riding in choppier conditions where additional power helps maintain flight will benefit from the 6,000 W upgrade.

In the Lineup

Within the Waydoo Flyer Evo ecosystem, the propulsion unit sits alongside the board, battery, mast, and hydrofoil as one of five core modules. Waydoo's current eFoil range also includes the Flyer Evo Pro Plus, a higher-end complete package aimed at performance-oriented riders. The propulsion unit upgrade path — Standard to Performance to Elite — mirrors this progression without requiring a full board swap.

Compared to complete eFoil drivetrains from brands like Lift and Fliteboard, the Evo propulsion unit is positioned as a more budget-friendly, modular alternative. Its tool-free detachment from the mast is a distinguishing design feature that few competitors replicate at this price tier. Buyers choosing between the three tiers should weigh rider weight, desired top speed, and budget: the Standard covers most recreational needs, the Performance adds power for larger riders, and the Elite layers on CNC build quality for those willing to pay the premium.
