An eFoil is an electric-powered hydrofoil board that lets you ride above the water without waves, wind, or towing. A battery housed inside or attached to the board drives a propeller on the mast, lifting you onto the foil at speeds typically between 25 and 45 km/h. This category includes complete eFoil packages, standalone boards, propulsion units, batteries, chargers, and electric foil-assist kits that convert an existing foil setup into a motor-assisted ride.

The main choice axes when comparing eFoil gear are board volume, motor power, and battery capacity. Larger boards (120–130 L) offer more stability for beginners and heavier riders, while smaller boards (75–90 L) are lighter and more maneuverable for experienced riders. Motor wattage determines top speed and the maximum rider weight the system can lift onto foil — entry-level units run around 4 kW, while higher-output motors reach 6 kW or more. Battery capacity, measured in amp-hours or watt-hours, directly controls ride time, which ranges from roughly 45 minutes on smaller cells up to two hours or more on larger ones. Also note the distinction between full eFoil systems — where the motor and battery are integrated into a purpose-built board — and foil-assist kits like the Foil Drive Fusion, which bolt onto a standard foil board and add electric power while keeping the setup lighter and compatible with unpowered riding.

An eFoil is a self-contained system, but riders still choose among mast lengths (shorter for stability, longer for ground clearance in chop), front wing sizes (larger wings lift at lower speeds, smaller wings carve harder), and fuselage options that affect turning response.
